Yana Vlasenko-Bernatska is an artist and master of Samchykivka painting. She is teacher and working as a volunteer.
She was born on December 7, 1974, in Kyiv in the family of artist Yuri Vlasenko and a leading teacher of economics and management Tetiana Vlasenko.
In 1994, she graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after Boychuk with honours in Ukrainian folk embroidery under the direction of Olena Feoklistova.
In 1995, she studied the course of Ukrainian folk weaving under the direction of Liudmila Zhogol.
In 2000, she graduated from the Kyiv Academy of Arts and Architecture, Department of Scenography, under the leadership of Danylo Lider.
In the same year, she joined the Union of Artists, painting section.
Since 2012 she has been the head of the “Tsikavi shtuchky” (“Interesting Things”) group at the gymnasium «Kyivska Rus».
She was engaged in creativity with children of primary school and senior classes.
In 2016, she graduated from the Samchykivka painting course under the guidance of Viktor Rakovsky and began to popularize this original type of art. She took part in the painting of the village of Samchyky, Staro-Kostiantyniv district, Khmelnytsky region.
She is the organizer of the annual Ukrainian exhibition of Samchykivka painting in the Union of Artists. She has participated in many exhibitions and in all projects of the art organization UA maze. Her works are in collections in Ukraine and abroad. For four years in a row, she took part in a large-scale Ukrainian Easter Egg Festival on Sofia Square.
She is a volunteer and travelled with creative projects all over Ukraine.
Yana made the largest Samchykiv mosaic 5/7 meters, which is constantly exhibited in the park near the hotel “Rus”.
Now she works as a teacher and organizer in Kyiv Primary School #332. There she created the ethnographic museum “Svitlytsia”, where she constantly exhibits her own collection of household items.
Yana Vlasenko-Bernatska is a Head of the groups “Tsikavi shtuchky” (“Interesting Things”), “Teatralni vytivky” ( “Theatrical antics”), “Tsikava Multyplikatsia” (“Interesting Animation”).
In 2020, she received a pedagogical diploma from the National University of Pedagogical Management, Department of Inclusion.
She makes many workshops for children with special educational needs based on her own, author’s methods.
Since 2020 she is the head of the exemplary group “Palette” in the Cultural and Art Center of Darnytskyi district.
In 2020, together with the residents and students of Darnytskyi district, she created the largest fence of Samchykivka painting of 142 meters. This work was submitted for the Guinness Book of Records of Ukraine.
On December 2, 2020, Yana Vlasenko-Bernatska received a Certificate with the registration of the RECORD of the longest Samchykivka painting. The record is registered in the National Register of Records of Ukraine.
