About the Ensemble
The song and dance Ensemble of Warsaw University of Technology is one of the oldest student song and dance ensembles in Poland. It was founded in 1951 by a group of future engineers fascinated by Polish folklore. Throughout nearly 70 years of its existence the Ensemble developed its artistic potential under the patronage of Warsaw University of Technology, with support of professional instructors and choreographers. Since then singing and dancing students have been winning the hearts of the audience all over the world.
Today the unique structure of the Ensemble consists of “dancing chorus”, “singing dance group” and a “mixed group”, which perfectly combines both skills. The Ensemble also owes its success to its own student band playing life music at every performance. All of it makes each concert a perfectly prepared and exceptionally artistic event, where emotions and good fun play an important role along with the skills.
In the current repertoire, next to the national dances and compositions from different Polish regions, the Ensemble presents spectacles based on Polish folk customs and gentry traditions, including carnival celebrations and performances of Christmas carols and patriotic songs. The Ensemble reached even for the Hutsul and Lemko dance repertoire.
Thanks to the diversity of arts, The Song and Dance Ensemble of Warsaw University of Technology has been frequently appreciated at various national and international festivals. However, the most important achievement of its artistic works is the continually growing Ensambles’ family and spectators falling in love with Polish folklore.
