The International Folklore Festival of Bergamo
The International Folklore Festival will take place in Bergamo in the last week of August, at the same time as the Sant’Alessandro celebration, Patron Saint day. The Festival – organized by the historic association of Bergamo called Ducato di Piazza Pontida – will last for about one week, and it makes interest to the chief town and about ten towns of Bergamo for its many shows.
This Festival was born in 1983 and in its years brought to Bergamo almost 5.000 young artists from all corners of the planet. In these years, on its stage and in its squares have been over 130 groups, that have brought into our land the Folklore and traditions of more than 50 nations; foremost from Europe but also from South America, Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Festival always tries to offer the best international overview leading to living together with many folkloristic state reality and recognized all over the world such as for example Brazilian and Mexican with Mongolia or Papua-Nuova which they have a remote and beautiful culture.
It has been established as one of the most relevant initiatives among international folkloric festivals that take place in Italy. Bergamo’s exhibition has like the motto: Peace at home, peace in the world.
