Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Gromytsia” was created on February 15, 2015 by a young folklorist and bandura player Yevhen Pykhtin. After graduating from the Faculty of Music of the National University of Culture and Arts, he headed the Ensemble “Gromytsia” and is currently its artistic director.
The ensemble “Gromytsia” is based at the Cultural and Art Center of Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. The aim of the group is to revive and popularize Ukrainian folk songs, rituals, traditions and folk dances.
The ensemble’s repertoire consists of lyrical, historical, Cossack, humorous songs, psalms, songs of the peoples of the world, humor, carols, Christmas carols and instrumental works.
The ensemble “Gromytsia” is famous not only for its excellent vocalists, but also has a powerful orchestral group. It presents such instruments as accordion, cymbals, violin, flute, trumpet, tambourine, bukhalo, bugai and other various noise instruments.
The basis of the ensemble’s repertoire are recordings from folklore expeditions.
An integral part of the Ensemble “Gromytsia” is a folk dance, which gives the team decoration and skill, the ability not only to sing but also to dance while singing.
Various concert activities of the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Gromytsia” popularize folk art in different parts of our country and abroad. The bright performances of the group cause admiration and loud applause of spectators of different ages and nationalities.
Ensemble “Gromytsia” is a winner of many competitions and festivals.
