The festival belongs to Vejle Municipality but operates throughout the Triangle area.
The first Triangle Folklore Festival was held in the Triangle area, Vejle, Kolding and Fredericia in 1995.
The initiative for this festival came from the folk dance group Rejseholdet, a group of young dancers and fiddlers who had been traveling around the world for a few years with Danish folk dance and fiddling music. During their travels, the group received requests for a festival in Denmark, and in collaboration with local folk dance groups in the Triangle Region, the first Triangle Folklore Festival was launched.
Since then, the festival has been held 8 times in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019 and most recently in 2023
All the festivals have featured some amazing folklore groups from all over the world, with their festive and colorful performances dancing in the streets and alleys of the area to the delight of the people.
The highlights of the festivals have been the big Gallashows shows, which have been held in Vejle Music Theatre, Kolding Theatre, Aarhus Music Hall, Odense Theatre and Herning Congress Center.
