The dance group Medioburgum-Walacra presents a number of old dances, some of them of Zeeland origin, some imported from outside the province, after which the dance passes and music in the Walcherse villages got their own life. Over the years, these imported dances also acquired a Zeeland character. In some dances, the distinction with dancing from outside the province can be clearly heard and seen. In other dances, there are often similarities with dances from the other provinces. The dances are performed under the supervision of one or more musicians and between the dances an explanation is given of the clothing our dancers wear: the gestation of the Middelburg Craft with the accompanying gold and silver jewellery. The children’s group of our association consists of more than 20 boys and girls aged from 3 to 10 years. They also show a number of old children’s songs and games in their traditional costumes. The chatter bakers complete the association with the traditional preparation of the famous Zeeland ‘Babbelaars’.
